Five Steps Toward Projecting Confidence
You have been told to carry yourself with confidence, but what does that mean? Well, think about Madonna. Would her brand sing without confidence? Or Michelle Obama? She appears as though the role of First Lady was her destiny. These women ooze confidence at all times – when they talk, walk, or interact. Does this mean that they never suffer from self-doubt? No! But they know how to keep it from view. Here are the ingredients for emoting confidence:
1. Exude positivity when meeting new people
Being friendly when you are introduced to new people or when introducing yourself makes you appear more confident. Donning a big smile, making eye contact and introducing yourself in a clear way is all it takes to make you more appealing than the average Jane or Joe. Distinguish yourself by always using your first and last name. Unless you are Cher, your last name is not optional.
2. Stand up straight
We all know the importance of a firm handshake, but not enough can be said about solid posture. Having great posture is personally my biggest challenge, but I keep trying because this one is so in our control – it is like a freebee.
